Meet a Tweet a Week

June5

So as some of you know, I started a new thing not long ago where I try and meet somebody in my Twitter world in the flesh every week. I have dubbed it Meet a Tweet a Week. Most of the time I have hit this aim and I have become all the better for it. I thought I might start sharing who some of these people are right here. So here goes….

This week I met Fiona Adler – Co-Founder of  WOMOW – Word Of Mouth On the Web.

Fiona is nothing short of inspirational. This lady has utterly sqeezed a heap into the last 5 years including completing an MBA,  founding and selling a very successful IT business to Sensis (Invizage), climbing Mt Everest and having not one but TWO children.

There is a mass of cliché analogies particularly with the mountain climbing, I could pull out here but put simply – I get a real buzz from people that  take it beyond where everyone else stops.  This was certainly a characteristic I needed to bare witness too this week.

Fiona now heads up WOMOW – Word Of Mouth On the Web and its a website that helps people find recommended businesses, and helps good businesses promote themselves with word-of-mouth.

So what is the value in such a concept? People no longer pay attention to advertising. Our eyes glaze over like a child doing a wee in a pool – Ha! That is a post for another day!

You can follow Fiona here @womow

Neat! I love this concept Nat – it’s a really powerful way to network and build strong relationships quickly! Fiona sounds like a fantastic person to know. I’m hooking up with her on twitter after I have pressed the “add comment”button. Great post btw!

Yeah… So I know you avoided the mountain analogy, but I am totally going to go there!
This whole blog illustrates what we can achieve if we simply order our steps toward a goal. Nat you are connecting with amazing people step by step, then Fiona shows us all what is possible if we CONTINUE pushing on and up! Every mountaintop experience begins in a place of decision.
Thanks Nat for introducing me to Fiona! Lovin’ the WOMOW concept I’m on my way there now!

Its a great idea. Hmmm, most of my Tweeps are overseas, but I’m getting more locals, so maybe soon I should start this up myself. I can imagine the benifits.

    Nat – Love this!
    Tweet ups make Twitter better.
You find amazing people on Twitter with a huge variety of things to say and value to bring. Meeting them in person just helps to extend the ‘conversation’ to more than 140 characters.
A great way to introduce yourself to new people.
Can’t wait for the next blog with who is next !
    Fran.

Thanks for all the comments guys!
Fran – Pity I didn’t get around to publishing this idea before I met you in person! Do you think I can back date them just a little? : )

Carl – I have a few people lined up already so stay tuned.

Mr Finger – I noticed you are always talking to people in Japan. Would live to know the connection there!
